Sometimes a design takes something unexpected and gives it a completely new personality — and that’s exactly what this month’s Stitching Die of the Month by Spellbinders does. A classic sporty, baseball cap is transformed into an ultra-feminine focal point with soft colours, delicate stitching, and sweet floral accents. It’s a fun and creative way to celebrate someone who deserves to be the birthday MVP.

Card Details
The baseball cap was die cut from a combination of Chiffon and Blush Colorwheel Cardstock , creating a soft and elegant colour palette. After assembling the pieces, the stitched details were completed using embroidery floss in a slightly darker shade of pink. The stitching adds wonderful texture and enhances all the lovely details in the cap design.
Once the cap was assembled, it was embellished with a small arrangement of flowers and leaves, giving it a delicate and feminine touch. The floral cluster adds dimension and turns the cap into a charming focal element.
For the background, cream cardstock was embossed using the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month for February, which creates a beautiful leafy texture across the panel. This embossed panel was adhered to an A2-sized card base, providing subtle interest while keeping the overall look soft and elegant.

The finished baseball cap was popped up with foam squares to give it dimension against the textured background. The sentiment, “Birthday MVP,” which is included in the Stitching Die of the Month set, was also popped up with foam to coordinate with the focal element and add a bit more lift to the design.
Closing Thoughts
I love how this project shows the versatility of the stitching die set. By changing the colours and adding florals, a sporty baseball cap becomes a sweet and stylish birthday card. The stitched details, soft palette, and textured background all come together to create a design that feels both playful and elegant — perfect for celebrating someone special.
