There’s something so calming about soft colour transitions and whimsical imagery, and this card leans right into that feeling. The gentle blend of hues paired with the dreamy hot air balloon pattern using Spellbinders Press & Foil of the Month creates a light, airy backdrop, while the sweet little kitten adds just the right touch of charm. It’s one of those designs that feels delicate but still has enough dimension to keep your eye moving.

Card Details

A panel of Colorwheel Cardstock in Chiffon was letterpress printed using the background plate from the set with BetterPress inks. The inks were applied diagonally to create a soft gradient effect—starting with Taffy at the top, blending into Tiger, then Peridot, and finishing with Cruise toward the bottom. This angled colour application adds subtle movement, echoing the floating feel of the hot air balloons.

Once complete, the panel was cut using the second-largest die from the Playful Stitched Panels set. A layer of white sheet foam was cut with the same die to add dimension, and the pieces were stacked before being adhered to a Chiffon A2 card base.

The sentiments included in the Press & Foil set were letterpress printed in black ink and cut all at once using the coordinating die. To give the sentiment more presence against the detailed background, it was also backed with white sheet foam for a clean, raised finish.

To ground the sentiment, a tag was created using another die from the Playful Stitched Panels set, cut from Chiffon cardstock and backed with foam. Before assembling, a piece of light pink embroidery floss was tied into a soft bow through the tag opening—such a small detail, but it adds a lovely bit of texture.

The finishing touch is the adorable kitten from the Small Die of the Month. It was cut from ivory cardstock with Chiffon details for the nose and cheeks. Positioned so its little paws rest over the edge of the tag, it brings a playful element to the design. The tag was adhered at a slight angle for added interest, and the sentiment was placed on top to complete the focal point.

Final Thoughts

This card is a great example of how a soft palette and thoughtful layering can create something that feels playful. The combination of letterpress texture, and dimensional elements gives it depth without overwhelming the design. And honestly, that tiny kitten peeking over the tag? It kind of steals the show—in the best possible way.
