Building the Background

To set the stage, I used the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, “Brick by Brick”, to create a crisp, textured backdrop. The design was embossed on white cardstock and adhered to an A2 card base for a clean, classic look.

Creating Peppermint Prancer

All of the die-cutting was done using Colorwheel Cardstock in Pomegranate, Acorn, and Truffle. For extra sparkle, the alternating pie-shaped stitched panels were cut from glitter cardstock found in the Ruby Treasured Cardstock pack.

The stitching was done with red embroidery floss, adding warmth and handcrafted detail to the peppermint ornament.

Assembling the Design

The ornament and letters come together to form the word JOY:

  • The ornament consists of two cardstock layers with stitching for texture and dimension.

  • The J and Y were cut from foam and layered for equal height with the ornament.

  • The deer’s legs were adhered directly behind the ornament, while the upper half of the deer was popped up with foam squares for added depth.

  • A small holly accent was attached at the base of one antler for a sweet festive touch.

Sentiment Details

To finish, I added a letterpressed sentiment from the Christmas Greetings Press Plate and Die Set. Both the sentiment and foam layer were die-cut with the coordinating die and stacked for subtle dimension.
