Hello friends! Spellbinders’ Die of the Month, Soaring Dragongfly, is a gorgeous die set. The dragonfly is large and really makes a statement on an A2 sized card. This die set includes small flowers and a sentiment. The background for this card was created with the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month.

  • The 3D Embossing Folder of the Month , Stylized Trellis, was used to embossing a panel of dark blue cardstock that measured 4 1/4“ x 5 1/2“.

  • Double sided sheet adhesive was placed on white card stock and the wings were cut by placing the die face down on the cardstock. This will ensure that all the small die cuts will be held in place.

  • Using small, detailed, blending brushes, Distress Oxide Inks Villainous Potion, Picked Raspberry and Faded Jeans were used to colour the sections of the wings. The wings were also cut from gold foil card stock.

  • The body of the dragonfly was cut from dark blue cardstock and black sheet foam. The overlaying detail from gold foil cardstock.

  • Before adhering the gold frames to the wings and the detail die cut to the body, the wings, body and the embossed background were spattered with Distress Stain Tarnished Brass.

  • The body with its gold foil overlay was adhered to the foam die cut. Dots of liquid adhesive were placed on the base of each of the four wings and adhered beneath the foam backed body.

  • The embossed panel was adhered to an A2 sized black card base. Foam squares were placed on the ends of each of the four wings and liquid adhesive was added to the foam mounted body. The dragonfly was adhered at an angle to the card front.

  • The sentiment included in the die set was cut from gold foil and adhered to the card.
