There’s something especially charming about gathering together with friends in the Autumn, and this month’s Spellbinders Press & Foil of the Monthcaptures that feeling perfectly. This adorable scene features a group of forest creatures gathered together to share a thankful greeting. With its sweet woodland images and warm autumn colour palette, it makes a wonderful card for celebrating friendship and gratitude.

Card Details

I started by BetterPressing the adorable forest creature image onto white cardstock. Since I knew I would be colouring the image with Copic markers, I made sure to use an ink that would not bleed when used with alcohol markers. My go-to choice for this is always Memento ink.

Once the image was BetterPressed, I coloured the little woodland friends using autumn colours and muted tones. I kept the colouring fairly simple, using a combination of a light and dark shade for each element.

For the layered panel, I used the dies from the  Precision Layering A2 Die set to cut three panels. The smallest die was used to cut the pressed image, followed by layers of gold foil and Merlot Colorwheel Cardstock

Before assembling the layers, I added some vintage, rustic touches to the image panel. I lightly edged the cardstock with Distress Oxide Ink in Vintage Photo, then added a subtle splatter using watered-down black acrylic paint and a fan brush. The result is a wonderfully rustic, slightly weathered appearance that works perfectly with the woodland theme.

The three panels were then layered together and adhered to an A2-sized Kraft card base.

The Press & Foil of the Month set also includes four coordinating sentiments that can be pressed or foiled all at once and then cut with a single die. I love this! It makes creating multiple sentiments quick and easy.

For my sentiment, I foiled the greeting in gold onto Merlot Colorwheel Cardstock. This ties the sentiment beautifully to the gold edging used on the layered panels. I used the coordinating die to cut out the sentiment, along with black craft foam, and stacked the two layers together before adhering the sentiment to the bottom of the card panel.

Final Thoughts

I absolutely love how this card came together. The combination of the sweet forest friends, muted Copic colouring, rich Merlot cardstock and touches of gold creates a warm and inviting autumn design.

This is definitely a card that makes me think of crisp AUtumn days, changing leaves and, most importantly, gathering with friends and being thankful for the people in our lives.

Thank you for your visit! Happy crafting!
