Card Details
For my card, I chose to hot foil the beautiful background design onto Indigo cardstock from the Colorwheel Cardstock collection. Gold foil was the perfect choice, adding a lovely touch of sparkle and creating a striking contrast against the deep blue background.
When foiling or pressing a background design, I like to begin with an oversized panel. This allows me to trim the cardstock to my desired size and position the design exactly where I want it. For this card, I trimmed the panel to A2 size, measuring 4¼” x 5½”, ensuring the radiating design was perfectly centred. The foiled panel was then adhered to an A2-sized card base.
Next, I hot foiled one of the coordinating sentiments in gold onto Indigo cardstock. The set includes coordinating dies, making it easy to cut out the sentiment. I also die cut the sentiment from foam and stacked the layers to add a little extra dimension.
With its rich navy-blue background, beautiful gold detailing and dimensional sentiment, this card is a wonderful example of how a simple design can make a big impact.
Closing Thoughts
I love how quickly this elegant card came together! The combination of Indigo cardstock and gold foil creates a sophisticated, festive look without the need for lots of additional embellishments. Sparkling Bright is definitely a set I’ll reach for when I need to create multiple Christmas cards or put together a last-minute design that still feels special. Sometimes, a little gold sparkle is all you need to make a card shine!
