Supply List

For these two cards, I went with contrasting palettes — one rich and dramatic in black, gold, and glitter, and the other soft and dreamy in white and blush pink.

The backgrounds were embossed with the Polka Dot & Daisy Duo Embossing Folder, trimmed to 4” x 5¼”. Each sentiment was stamped on vellum using black ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder for a subtle shine. The vellum strip was wrapped around the panel and secured at the back before attaching the embossed layer with foam tape to an A2 card base. For a coordinated finish, I layered gold vellum on the black card and white vellum on the white card.

The largest die from the Essential Stars die set was used to cut the glittering star backdrops — one in gold glitter and one in pink glitter. Each horse, die-cut in black or white, was accented with glitter details to complement its background, creating a bold yet refined New Year design.

Other Ideas for the Good Fortune Horse Set

  • Use soft watercolor washes behind the horse for a dreamy, artistic look.

  • Create a framed home décor piece using the horse die with metallic cardstock.

  • Make a birthday or graduation card using bright, energetic colors and “wild + free” as the sentiment.

  • Pair the horse with celestial backgrounds for a magical, night-sky effect.

Closing Thoughts

The Good Fortune Horse set captures both elegance and power, making it perfect for celebrating new beginnings. Whether you go bold with black and gold or keep it airy with blush and white, this design is sure to inspire a “spirited” start to the year!
