Spellbinders’ Christmas in July Celebration featuring Stitched Joy

Hello everyone! Christmas in July? Yup! It’s time to think ahead with early preparations for the busiest time of the year! Spellbinders has released a series of gorgeous collections to inspire our creativity. Check out all the wonderful projects on Spellbinders’ Blog! I am sharing a gorgeous die set from the STITCHED CHRISTMAS COLLECTION called Stitched Joy.

This set comes with the main die, 3 smaller florals and the JOY letters. Everything was cut from black card stock except the letters which were cut from red card stock and black foam. I began with a relaxing evening in front of the television stitching! I used a combination of red with two metallics in green and gold DMC Embroidery Floss. I split the the main strand in two for the embroidery work. To keep the back of the stitched panel relatively flat, scotch tape is used to hold the threads in place when beginning and ending a stitched section.

The main die was used to cut black foam. The stitched panel was adhered to the foam. I place some weight, my Misti, on top so their is even contact between the two until the glue dries. A red card front panel sized 4” by 5 1/2” was embossed using Tile Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder. To avoid cracking In the card stock using this deeply etched design, the panel is sprayed liberally with water before going through the die cutter.

The embossed panel was adhered to a black matted A2 sized card base. The foam backed stitched panel was adhered to the embossed panel. Again when adhering the embossed to something or adhering any thing on it, I weight it down until the glue dries. The three small individual floral stitched die cuts and the foam backed JOY letters were adhered. The card was embellished with gold confetti finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
