November’s Spellbinders Clubs are all about celebrating birthdays, and I am starting off with two cards featuring the adorable bonus items included in the ALL-CLUBS CRATE!

As the name suggests, the ALL-CLUBS CRATE includes all of the monthly clubs, two exclusive bonus items, and a specially curated selection of 10 cardstock sheets. This month’s bonus items, You Want Cake and You Want Cake Too, are absolutely adorable die sets that can be used on their own or combined to create a fun interactive element. I couldn’t resist creating a birthday girl and boy with a little surprise in store!

Card Details

I began by creating my backgrounds using the November 3D Embossing Folder, Frosted Finish. I embossed panels of Alabaster and Blush Colorwheel Cardstock, then lightly brushed white pigment ink over the raised areas to highlight the beautiful texture and give the backgrounds a lovely frosted appearance.

For the card featuring the Alabaster icing background, I incorporated elements from both You Want Cake and You Want Cake Too to create my birthday boy. I chose Seaside cardstock for his clothing and party hat, adding darker accents for contrast.

For the second card, I used the You Want Cake die set to create a sweet birthday girl. I chose a combination of Blush and Mulberry cardstock for her outfit and party hat.

I assembled both characters completely, including their fun little party hats, before moving on to the interactive cake-holding arms. The idea is to have the birthday girl and boy surprise everyone by splatting a cake right into their faces!

A little assembly tip for the interactive arm:

Getting the arm positioned correctly is easier than you might think. I started by temporarily placing the cake splatter and arm over the character’s face to determine the correct placement. Once I was happy with the alignment, I adhered the birthday girl and boy to their embossed panels.

To secure the interactive arm, you will need the L-shaped die cut included in the You Want Cake die set. Adhere the narrow portion of this piece to the end of the arm, aligning it with the crease at the sleeve. The wider portion will extend behind the panel.

With the cake splatter positioned over the face once again, I made sure the crease in the sleeve aligned with the edge of the panel. Holding everything in position, I adhered the L-shaped bracket to the back of the panel. This creates the mechanism that allows the arm to move and reveal the cake splat!

It may sound a little complicated when written out, but it really is super easy once you see how the pieces fit together.

The November Clear Stamp & Die of the Month, Congratulations, You’re Older, is a fabulous sentiment set. All of the sentiments have been designed to coordinate with the other monthly clubs, making it easy to mix and match them with your projects.

For these two cards, I used the generic Happy Birthday sentiment as my main greeting, then added a little humour with the secondary sentiments, Cake Looks Good on You and You Said You Wanted Cake. For the birthday boy, I stamped the sentiments onto Seaside cardstock, while Blush cardstock was used for the birthday girl.

I also incorporated the fun die-cut Surprise sentiment included with You Want Cake, using the coordinating cardstock colours to tie everything together.

Closing Thoughts

These two cards were so much fun to create! I love how the interactive arms add a playful surprise to the designs, and the expressions on the birthday girl and boy make them even more adorable. The combination of the embossed icing backgrounds, sweet party hats and humorous sentiments makes these perfect cards for anyone who enjoys a little birthday mischief.

The November bonus die sets are definitely a favourite of mine. Whether you use them individually or combine them to create the interactive element, they are sure to bring a smile to someone’s face. After all, who wouldn’t love a little cake splat on their birthday?

Thank you for your visit and happy crafting!
