Spellbinders’ 3D Embossing Folder of the Month for August & VIDEO

Spellbinders’ 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, Underwater Waltz, is a beautiful background. I love the water and was thrilled with the seaside themed clubs for this month. This card also features the sweetest mermaid from the Large Die of the Month. Check out the VIDEO for creating the colour washed panel used for embossing.

Cold pressed watercolour paper was colour washed with two shades of blue and a teal using Gansai Tambi watercolours. After the panel was completely dry, a blending tool was used to apply Distress Oxide Black Soot around the edges. The panel was trimmed to 4 1/4” by 5 1/2” and then embossed with 3D Embossing Folder of the Month.
Again, using a blending tool, white pigment ink was applied over the panel, catching all the high points of the embossing. The panel was then spattered with Splatter White using a fan brush. When dry, the panel was adhered to an A2 black card base.
The cute mermaid and sentiment were created using the Large Die of the Month and Colorwheel Cardstock; Blue Spruce, Teal Topaz and Tutu. Both the sentiment and mermaid were popped up with foam squares. A sweet wake of flowers and dots of Nuvo Glitter Drops White Blizzard follow the mermaid. This medium was also applied to the stars in the mermaid’s hair, her clamshell top and the trim on her tail.
