Spellbinder’s Small Die of the the Month for March

Hello, fellow card makers! I adore butterflies and Spellbinder's Die of the Month, Floral Butterfly Card Front, is gorgeous. What better way to send warm Spring wishes than an easily, pulled-together card that features not one but two beautiful butterflies! The Small Die of the Month coordinates perfectly with the Clear Stamp and Die of the Month and the last two card examples illustrate how well they work together.

  • The die that creates the lacy, floral background was cut twice. The two die cuts were adhered to coloured card stock measuring 4 1/4" by 5 1/2". The panel was then mounted onto A2 sized card bases.

  • The butterfly consists of three dies; the lower wings, upper wings and the body. Two cuts of each die are needed to create both butterflies for each card.

  • For the pink card, the flower and leaf dies were adhered directly on the butterfly wings. The butterfly was assembled by adhering the body over the two sections. Liquid adhesive was applied to the body and foam squares on the wings.

  • The card was embellished with Pink Opalescent Sequins finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew and completed off with the sentiment included in the die set.

  • For the yellow card, the butterfly stamps included in the Clear Stamp and Die of the Month were used to stamp vellum with Distress Oxide Inks Broken China and Mowed Lawn. The butterflies were clear embossed and die cut with the coordinating die in the Clear Stamp and Die of the Month. The butterflies were adhered with liquid adhesive on just body.

  • The decorative image and sentiment also included in Clear Stamp and Die of the Month were stamped with black Verafine ink on yellow card stock and the flowers Copic coloured. The coordinating die was used to cut both the image/sentiment and sheet foam. They were stacked and adhered to the card centre.

  • The flowers centres were embellished with Nuvo Crystal Drops Buttermilk.

  • For the lilac card, the butterfly stamps included in the Clear Stamp and Die of the Month were used to stamp and gold emboss lilac card stock. The dies included in the Die of the Month were used to cut the butterflies. The butterfly was assembled by adhering the body over the two sections. Liquid adhesive was applied to the body and foam squares on the wings.

  • The flower dies were used to cut lilac and purple card stock and the leafy sprigs were cut from dark grey. The flowers were assembled and adhered around the decorative edging to frame the die cut sentiment.
