Spellbinder’s Peony Background Press Plate from Yana’s Let’s Celebrate Collection

Hello friends! Peony Background Press Plate from the Let’s Celebrate Collection by Yana Smakula is SO GORGEOUS! The plate is covered with beautiful blooms done up as a negative design … stunning! I have several card examples because these are quick and easy cards to make and, more importantly, I loved making them!

  • For all of the cards, I began with a panel of Canson XL Watercolour paper sized 4 1/4" by 5 1/2". The panels were taped to the A2 registration marks on the platen of the BetterPress Letterpress System .

  • The panels were coloured with Lindy's Magicals; pigment powder. This step is only one that takes time ... 'walk away' time! The panels need to be completely dry before continuing. I left the panels overnight but likely a couple of hours would do it.

  • After a couple of different methods, I found that saturating the panel thoroughly with a water spritzer and then applying the powder worked best.

  • The sentiments from Let's Celebrate Sentiments Press Plate and Die set were pressed on card stock that coordinated with each of the pigment powder backgrounds. Both the sentiments and foam were cut with the coordinating dies and stacked.

  • For the pair of blue cards, Tibetan Poppy Teal from Lindy's Magicals Autumn Leaves was used.

  • Peony Background Press Plate was inked with Versamark, the platform was run through the die cutting machine and the panel was embossed in white.

  • One panel was trimmed to 4" by 5" 1/4" and adhered to an A2 sized card base. The white embossed, foam backed sentiment was adhered.

  • The other panel was cut with a die from Mirrored Arch Labels. The next smaller die was used to cut foam and they were stacked.

  • The sentiment was pressed onto a teal blue panel measuring 4" by 5 1/4". The sentiment was white embossed. The teal panel was mounted to an A2 sized card base and the foam backed panel adhered.
