Spellbinder’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month for January

Hello friends! Spellbinder's 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, Efflorescent Flora, is absolutely gorgeous! Black water colour paper was embossed and the images painted with mica watercolour. A dramatic and bold effect!

Be sure to check out Spellbinder's new value pack, The Deluxe Caboodle Club! All 10 clubs are included at a great savings! The January bonus item included in the membership is the super sweet Honey Dippin' Die Set! An image has been included at the end of this post.

The January "New Subscriber" registration window will be available January 6 - 27th while supplies last

  • An oversized panel of black water colour paper was embossed with Efflorescent Flora. Because of the heavier weight, both sides of the folder were spritzed with water to prevent the paper from cracking.

  • The water colouring was done with mica watercolours. I worked with a set by Iuile but there are lots of choices out there! I find it best to soften the paint by adding a droplet of water to it.

  • I painted with water colour brushes #10, 6 and a liner brush. The paint should be fairly concentrated to achieve a good level of opacity.

  • The panel was trimmed to 4" by 5 1/4" and adhered to an A2 sized card base.

  • The dies , from Everyday Sentiments, were used to cut both matte gold card stock and black sheet foam. The sentiment was stacked on the foam die cuts and adhered to the card.
