Hero Arts You’re A Classic Collection

Hero Arts’ “You’re A Classic” collection is such a unique and playful take on classical design. The combination of elegant columns, Grecian-inspired statues, and whimsical balloons creates cards that are lighthearted. I created two arched cards using the collection — one with a more masculine feel and the other more feminine — I love how versatile these products are for birthday cards with personality.
SUPPLIES

The shaped card bases were created using the largest die from the Perfect Touch Arches die set. The die was placed slightly above the fold of black cardstock so that a hinge remained at the top after die cutting. An additional arch was cut from black cardstock, embossed with the Linen 3-D Embossing Folder , and adhered to the front of each card for added texture and dimension.
The male and female statues, along with the balloons and strings from the You’re A Classic Stamp & Cut set, were stamped onto white cardstock. The balloons were coloured using the coordinating solid balloon stamp and Distress Oxide inks in Milled Lavender, Spun Sugar, and Dried Marigold. The statues were coloured with the coordinating You’re A Classic Layering Stencil Set using the same soft colour palette. Coordinating dies were then used to cut all of the elements.
The columns and urns from the Classic Columns Die Set were die cut using Colorwheel Cardstock Chiffon cardstock for the base layers and white cardstock for the intricate overlays. Since the detailed overlays are quite delicate, Tombow adhesive was applied and allowed to dry until tacky before adhering them. This made positioning the intricate die cuts much easier and allowed a bit of flexibility before permanently setting them into place.
The sentiments included in the You’re A Classic Stamp & Cut set were stamped in black ink onto white cardstock and cut with the coordinating dies. To add dimension, the sentiments were also cut from black sheet foam and stacked together.
To finish the cards, the elements were arranged and adhered using foam squares for extra depth and interest, with the exception of the large column on the feminine card, which was adhered flat to the background. The combination of texture, soft colours, and playful details makes these cards such a fun interpretation of a timeless classical theme.
