Spellbinders Small Die of the Month , Let’s Do Brunch, is a sweet die set is filled with all our brunch favorites — waffles, bacon, eggs, and mimosas! The fun versatility of the set allows you to use the elements in two styles: a more refined “grown-up brunch” look, or a whimsical version complete with adorable faces, arms, and legs.

Building the Background

The background was created with Indigo Colorwheel Cardstock, embossed using the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, and adhered to an A2 card base. Two ovals, cut using the Scallop and Stitched Edge Ovals Die Set, form the focal frame: a sparkling gold glitter scalloped oval layered with a smaller Indigo stitched oval on top of the embossed card front.

Assembling the Scene

The brunch elements were die-cut from Colorwheel Cardstock in Beeswax, Truffle, and Fawn. To bring everything to life, shading was added with Distress Oxide inks in Rusty Hinge, Aged Mahogany, and Fossilized Amber.

The mimosa glasses were created from vellum that had been prepared with double-sided adhesive on the back. This made it easy to build the layered look by adhering a white cardstock die cut and a gold glitter die cut behind the vellum without using liquid glue — since vellum tends to warp or react poorly to wet adhesives. Each glass was finished with a tiny gold glitter bow for a touch of sparkle.

The sentiment — one of the three included in the set — was popped up with foam squares and placed at the base of the oval. The brunch components were arranged above it, some adhered flat and others popped up for dimension. A scattering of peach iridescent sequins topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew completed this charming brunch-themed card.
