Christmas in July with Spellbinders’ Stitched Ornament

Hello everyone! Well this is my first Christmas card for the year! Spellbinders’ Stitched Ornament is a gorgeous die set with beautiful details! There is a small amount of stitching if you are a non-stitcher like me😉 and I was able to embroider this piece watching a couple of television shows (not movies!). If you are a pro, it will take you no time at all! I especially love the detail die cut added to the top and bottom of the ornament. This die set is GORGEOUS!

The ornament and the outline die were used to cut black card stock. The ornament was stitched with DMC Metallic Floss in purple and teal. To reduce the bulk at the back of ornament, tape holds the floss in place when beginning and finishing up a section of embroidery. The ornament was stacked on black foam cut with the outline die. To get good contact between the two, weight was placed on it until the adhesive dried.

The detailing for the top and bottom of the ornament was die cut several times from black card stock and stacked three times for each one. The added dimension helps this pretty tone on tone detail to stand out. The ornament hanger and a pretty bow borrowed the new Parcel and Post Decorations die set from was cut from purple foil card stock to complete the ornament.

Teal card stock measuring 4” by 5 1/4” was embossed with the Tile Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder. These new line of folders from Spellbinders are very dimensional. To prevent the card stock from cracking, the card stock was sprayed liberally with water before rolling through the die cutter. When dry, the panel was mounted on a black matted, A2 sized card base and the ornament attached. I use weight on top of anything adhered to these embossed panels until the adhesive set up. Foiled sentiment strips from the new Glimmer Wishes sentiment set were mounted on foam. So many sentiments to choose from in this set … 31!!! The dots on the detail die cuts on the ornament were embellished with tiny purple crystals and Spellbinders’ new line of Opalescent Color Essential Sequins in teal were used to complete this card. The confetti was finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
