For these two coordinating Christmas cards, I began with a 6” x 6” panel of Velvet Cardstock — the perfect deep, warm base for the season.
After securing the stencils over the panel, I first applied a layer of Cloud White Fresh Dye Ink to bring out the design. It’s important to let this layer dry completely before adding colour to prevent blending.
Next, I used blending brushes and Altenew Fresh Dye Inks in Olove, Sugar Kelp, Chamomile, Paper Bag, Cosmic Berry and Paper Heart to bring the paisley and floral details to life. For added shimmer, some smaller details were accented with Altenew’s Gold Gel Pen. To tie everything together, I brushed Gold Distress Stain along one edge of the paislies.
Once the inks were dry, I embossed the panel using the coordinating 3D Embossing Folder, revealing stunning texture and dimension. The embossed panel was then cut into two sections — one measuring 5 ½” x 3 ¾” and the other 5 ½” x 1 ¾” — creating two card fronts from one background. Gold Distress Stain was added in delicate splatters for festive sparkle.
Both panels were adhered to A2 card bases layered with Velvet Cardstock. A strip of gold glitter washi tape was added to the edge of each embossed panel for a refined, festive finish.
To complete the designs, sentiments from the Timeless Sentiments 3 Die Set were cut from matte gold cardstock and black foam, then stacked for dimension. A few Sugar Plums Enamel Dots add just the right touch of detail.
