The Spellbinders Block Zodiac Printing Press & Foil Collection is pure celestial magic. This 12-piece press and foil registration plate set can be purchased individually, or as a complete bundle—perfect if you want to be prepared for every birthday on your calendar. For today’s project, I’m featuring LEO, PISCES, and SAGITTARIUS, each brought to life with rich ink blending, shimmering gold foil, and elegant shaped card bases.

Card Design & Ink Blending
I began by ink blending three panels of Bristol Smooth cardstock, which I find ideal for achieving seamless colour transitions. Using Distress Oxide inks, each panel was softly framed with Faded Jeans and Black Soot around the outer perimeter to ground the design and draw the eye inward.
The centres of the panels were blended with different colour combinations for variety and personality:
Seedless Preserves / Picked Raspberry
Fossilized Amber / Abandoned Coral
Mermaid Lagoon / Cracked Pistachio
These blends create a glowing, atmospheric backdrop that feels both dreamy and cosmic.
Pressed & Foiled Details
Once the panels were complete, each was hot foiled in gold using the corresponding zodiac plate, perfectly aligning the constellation, symbol, and sentiment. The shine of the foil against the soft oxide background really brings the designs to life.
The panels were then die cut using a mix of Spellbinders nesting die sets, including:
To enhance the celestial feel, the outer perimeter of each panel was BetterPressed with one of the plates from the Season’s Greetings Evergreens Press Plate set. The evergreens were letter-pressed using black BetterPress ink, creating the illusion of gazing up into a star-filled night sky.
Finishing Touches & Card Bases
For added texture and shimmer, the panels were spattered with Distress Stain in Tarnished Brass, applied using a fan brush and concentrated around the edges for a subtle glow.
The shaped card bases were created by using the next-largest die from each nesting set to cut folded black cardstock. Positioning the die slightly over the fold created a hinge for the shaped base. A second solid die cut was adhered on top to neatly cover the cut edge, giving each card a clean, professional finish.
