Spinner Card with Mirror Stamping featuring Alex Syberia Designs’ Sparkle & Dance

Hello everyone! Every once in a while you see a stamp set and know exactly what you're going to do with it. The moment I laid eyes on Sparkle and Dance by Alex Syberia Designs, I knew I wanted to create a spinner card. A pirouetting kitten! There are two sweet dancing critters in this set accompanied by inspirational, handwritten sentiments. I chose the adorable kitty for this fun interactive card!

  • The kitten image was stamped twice in a stamping platform with Versamark ink and embossed with silver embossing powder. One image was stamped regularly and the other 'mirror stamped' using a Mirror Stamping Plate by Stampendous.

  • The kittens were cut with the coordinating die. The mirror image was placed up against a window. The outline was clearly visible from the back of the panel and the die was aligned to it.

  • Two floral sprays from Alex Syberia Designs' Life Is Good stamp set were also stamped with Versamark and embossed in silver and cut with the coordinating die. The height of the images were trimmed down but with enough 'extra' for making final adjustments.

  • The images were Copic coloured:

kittens - body - W00, 01, skirt - black, polka dots - R21

flowers - YR18, 02, 000 / R39, 81, 000

leaves - BG18, G00, 0000

  • An A2 sized card base and black cardstock also cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" were cut with an oval die. The black oval die cut was adhered to the inside of the card base.

  • A strip of double sided tape was placed down the back of one of the kittens and a length of clear thread adhered to it. The other kitten was stacked on top with liquid adhesive.

  • Double sided tape was placed above and below the oval cut out on the card base. The kitten was centred in the middle of the oval holding the thread taut and adhering it to the tape.

  • The black card front was adhered to the cardbase and the floral images adhered to the top and bottom ensuring the high points would not impede the spinning action of the kitten. The floral panels were trimmed flush to the card base.

  • A pink card stock oval with a dot detail was adhered over the black one inside the card.

  • Dew-like, clear crystals embellished the flowers and leaves.

  • White, pink and black crystals were used to highlight the kitten.

  • The finale .... twist the kitten several times and pop it into an envelope for a fun surprise when the recipient opens the card!
