Hello friends! I have a fun break from cardmaking with Spellbinders’ Summer Felt Stitch & Create! I have three projects featuring a growth chart, gift tags and gift card holders. These were so much to make using Felt Sunflower Bloom, Felt Berry Blossom, Felt Cheeky Apple and Felt Carrot Companion.
GROWTH CHART

The green felt base for the growth chart is 4” by 36”. The ends were wrapped around thin doweling that was painted green with acrylic paint and held in place with hot glue. In fact, everything was adhered with hot glue! Next the fun pink tape measure was adhered along the left edge leaving a thin green border.

All of the stitching was done ‘tone on tone’ using mainly colours from the Merino Felt Warm Collection. The three large flowers and leaves from the Felt Sunflower Bloom were adhered spaced out along the banner to use them as focal points. The cute bunny from Felt Carrot Companion Was nestled in beside the centre flower. Large felt numbers from Bold Numbers were layered in three groupings between the flowers. Small flowers from Felt Cheeky Apple added to the top of the banner on either end off the dowel and a few additional ones scattered throughout the design.
GIFT TAGS

If I was compelled to choose a favourite from this collection, Felt Berry Blossom would be it! This big strawberry is fabulous! The plain foundation of the strawberry was cut from both red and black felt. The die with the seeds was cut in red. I trimmed down the perimeter of the black strawberry, sandwiched it between the two red ones and stitched them together.

The strawberries were finished off with a leafy top, and two additional leaves with a blossom. I really like the dimensional flower centres so I borrowed that die and the die for anadditional leaf from Felt Cheeky Apple. The Pomegranate cardstock tag from Whale In A Bottle was adhered between the blossom and leaf. These felt tags were finished off with red embroidery thread to create the tie.
GIFT CARD HOLDERS

Red, Yellow or Green! What is your favourite apple? Or are you like me and it depends if they are going to be eaten fresh or baked! The apples created using Felt Cheeky Apple are independent from the gift card holder so the recipient can be easily detached it for a keepsake.

The apple has three layers. The inside of the apple was stitched to one of the apple die cuts first and then the two apples stitch together. The Apple seeds and stem were here and then topped off with a blossom and leaf. The cardstock tag from Whale In A Bottle was cut from Chiffon Cardstock and adhered between the blossom and leaf. These felt tags were finished off with pink embroidery thread to create the tie. A 3” by 4” panel of Chiffon cardstock was used for the Adhesive Gift Card Pocket. A hole was punched and These pink embroidery thread was looped through the tag on the apple and the panel.
