Hello friends! We are continuing with the mariner theme for Spellbinders’ Stitching Die of the Month, Ahoy Matey, and what a super fun die set this one is! The captain of this ship is pretty cute … decked out in her seafaring gear. I have combined these elements with the BetterPress of the Month.

The June "New Subscriber" registration window will be open June 6th to the 27th. Sign up in June and receive the current design.

  • All of the coloured cardstock for the background and images is from the Colorwheel Cardstock Collection. Using the BetterPress System, a panel of 4 1/4” by 5 1/2” Mint cardstock was letterpressed with the BetterPress of the Month. Threes tones of green-blue Distress Oxide Inks, Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers and Bundled Sage, were applied in a gradient to the press plate. The panel was adhered to an A2 size card base.

  • All of the elements from the Stitching Die of the Month were cut from Mint, Blue Spruce, Indigo, Beeswax, Orchid , Blush, Truffle and Anchor.

  • The stitching on the waves and scarf were completed with embroidery floss similar in colour to the card stock. The ship’s wheel was stitched in gold.

  • The wheel was adhered directly to the panel. The three waves were adhered together overlapping, and then mounted to the bottom of the panel with foam tape.

  • The seagull’s feet were adhered directly to the wheel, and the body was popped up with foam squares. The anchor and sentiment were atracked onto the rope and adhered over the waves.

  • This card was finished up with Nuvo Jewel Drops added to the seagull’s cheek.
