Nothing says summer quite like tropical florals, and this month’s stencil of the month delivers exactly that. Spellbinders June Plumeria Spray Stencil of the Month creates a lush arrangement filled with beautiful blooms and leafy details, making it easy to create a vibrant card with lots of dimension and colour. I especially love stencil sets because they create impressive results while keeping the process simple and relaxing.

Card Details

All of the stencilling was done with Distress Oxide inks on white cardstock. Beginning with stencil one, Mowed Lawn ink was applied to the leaf sections, concentrating the colour around the centres and gradually lessening pressure toward the outer edges to create soft shading and dimension.

Stencil two adds the flower petals. Seedless Preserves was blended into the centres of the petals, fading outward into Kitsch Flamingo for a bright tropical look.

Stencil three creates the flower centres, which were inked using Squeezed Lemonade to add warm pops of colour throughout the arrangement.

Stencil four adds additional petal definition. Seedless Preserves was a dded along the edges of each petal to create depth and contrast.

The final stencil adds detail to the leafy background using Twisted Citron, creating extra texture and variation within the foliage.

To create the frame, the lace frame die and the largest rectangular die from the Open Lace Frame & Landscapes die set were taped together before cutting from Colorwheel Rainforest cardstock. The same rectangular die was then used to cut the completed stencilled floral panel.

The frame was laid over the floral panel, secured from behind, and then popped up with foam tape onto an A2-sized card base for added dimension.

To finish the card, a die cut sentiment from the Large Die of the Month  was added. “Aloha” was cut from Violet cardstock and white foam, stacked together for extra height, and adhered diagonally across the floral arrangement.

Closing Thoughts

This card is such a fun reminder that stencils can create incredibly detailed designs with very little effort. Between the vibrant colours, dimensional frame, and tropical florals, this card feels like summer in paper form. If you love bright colour palettes and quick-to-create designs, this stencil set is definitely one to reach for.
