Hello friends! Spellbinders’ Spring In Kyoto Collection is so sweet and is made up of a variety of gorgeous products. I have four cards featuring Kokeshi Dolls Die Set, Fan & Bow Die Set, Cherry Blossoms BetterPress Plate & Die Set and Spring in Kyoto BetterPress Plate & Stencil Set Bundle. This is a large collection and a must to check out!

The first three cards with the Kokeshi Dolls are on backgrounds created with the Spring in Kyoto BetterPress Plate & Stencil Set Bundle using the BetterPress System. This press plate can be purchased on its own. The link can be found below under SUPPLIES. The letterpressing and stencilling have been completed with Distress Oxide Inks. The panels with multiple colours of parasols were pressed with three different ink colors. The stencilling was completed with the same colour as the outline for each parasol. The ink is applied twice for each parasol The pressure was adjusted to get a lighter and deeper tone.

For one of the cards with the parasol background, the image was pressed in black ink. The stencilling was completed for just the inner ring of each umbrella. The inks used for the backgrounds included Kitsch Flamingo, Seedless Preserves, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberries, Dried Marigold and Ripe Persimmon. Two of the panels were cut to 4” x 5 1/4” and the third one was cut with one of the dies from Perfect Arches. All of the panels were adhered to black, A2 sized card bases.

The Kokeshi Dolls and Fans were die cut using Colorwheel and gold foil cardstock. These images are easily assembled. The die cut sentiments for three cards are from Woodland Tales Sentiments. The ‘bloom where you are’ sentiment is included in the Cherry Blossoms BetterPress Plate & Die Set. The floral images in this set, used in conjunction with the cards with the dolls, are press plates. For each set of florals different colouring mediums were used; Copics, Zigs and Distress Oxide Ink applied with a detailed blending brush. For one card, the tops of the stamens were finished off with crystal seed beads. To create dimension for each card, some elements were popped up with foam squares.

For the card above, the background is a panel of Bellini cardstock finished off with die cut flowers that are included in the Kokeshi Dolls Die Set and gold half pearls.
