Get ready for double the fun with the Spellbinders Small Die of the Month for July! This adorable penguin-themed set is packed with personality and pairs perfectly with the new Card Spinners, making it easy to create delightful interactive cards. Today I’m sharing two projects—one featuring a fun double interactive design with both a spinner and slider mechanism, and a second card showcasing a peaceful winter scene with playful penguins enjoying a snowy day.

Double Interactive Spinner Card
This cheerful card combines the new Card Spinners with a modified snowy hillside to create an additional slider element. The penguin glides effortlessly along the snowy slope while also spinning, making this card especially fun for the recipient.
The background was created with a blend of blue inks over cardstock before being splattered with white for a snowy night sky. A die-cut snowbank frame the scene while delicate snowflakes complete the winter landscape. The adorable penguin was dressed in classic red and white winter accessories and attached to the spinner mechanism for plenty of movement.

Penguins at Play
For the second card, I began with a panel of Colorwheel Oceanside Cardstock measuring 4¼” x 5½”.
Here’s a quick ink-blending hack I love using on coloured cardstock. Starting with the Oceanside cardstock, I blended Distress Oxide Faded Jeans around the outside edges and along the horizon. I then softened the transition by blending Distress Oxide Salvaged Patina inward, creating a beautifully smooth winter sky while allowing the cardstock colour to shine through.
Using the two landscape dies included in the Small Die of the Month, I cut snowy hills from white cardstock. The background hill was adhered directly to the ink-blended panel, while the foreground hill was popped up with foam tape for added dimension.
Before adhering the foreground hill, I stamped the sentiment from the Clear Stamp & Die of the Month. I masked the sentiment with Post-it Tape before splattering the entire scene with Spellbinders Splatter White using a fan brush to create falling snow.
The adorable penguins were die cut from black and white cardstock and bundled up with hats and scarves cut from Colorwheel Rainforest Cardstock. The tumbling penguin was adhered directly to the foreground, while the skiing penguin was popped up with foam squares for extra dimension.
The banner sentiment was created by cutting the banner from Colorwheel Oceanside Cardstock and layering glitter cardstock lettering on top. It was stacked and adhered with foam squares for additional dimension.
To finish the card, I added three glitter snowflakes and created snowy texture beneath the skis and around the frolicking penguin using Nuvo Stone Drops – White Chalk, adding a realistic touch to the winter scene.
