Ciao amici! I am back with two more cards from the Italian Coast with the La Dolce Vita Collection! These cards feature Deckside Dreams and Beyond the Door. They are finished up with fabulous sentiments from the La Dolce Vita Banners die set.

The elements for both of these cards have been cut from Colorwheel Cardstock. The Color Swatch Wheel Die Set  and Color Swatch Names  make the process of selecting a colour palette so easy. I keep my ‘wheels’ on a Book Ring. It is easy to flip through the swatches or take apart to lay out colour combinations.

Deckside Dreams

  • The shaped card base was created with Perfect Arches. White cardstock was folded in half and the arch die positioned so that the top of the die was slightly overhanging the crease. When cut, this will form the hinge. Because the top of the arch will be cut off, an additional panel, described next, was adhered to the card base.

  • Using the same arch die, Seaside and Waterfall cardstock was cut. The Waterfall arch was cut in half and the bottom half adhered to the Seaside arch. This created a defined line for the horizon. This panel was adhered to the card base.

  • The fabulous ship from Deckside Dreams was cut from Teal Topaz, Blue Spruce, black and white cardstock. I cut the bow of the ship two times. When assembled, the bow will be dimensional. I took one of the die cuts and trimmed off the two flaps on either side and adhered it to the front of the ship. The second die cut was creased on the three score lines and the flaps adhered to the previous die cut.

  • This set also comes with dies to create a background. White and blue glitter paper from Antique White and Aquamarine Treasured Cardstock were cut with the wave dies. The height was trimmed so that one would be higher than the other.

  • The white glitter wave was adhered to the card base and the ship mounted on top with foam tape. The blue glitter wave was also mounted with foam tape overlapping the bottom of the ship.

  • The sky was finished up with silhouettes of seagulls from the Guiding Light die set.

  • La Dolce Vita Banners is made up of a banner and three sentiment inserts. The banner die with the sentiment was used to cut. Teal Topaz cardstock. The banner die alone cut black sheet foam to stack the sentiment on.

  • A Seaside cardstock panel, 4 1/4“ x 5 1/2“, was adhered to an A2 sized card base.

  • The ocean scene that opens up behind the door was created with the unique Beyond the Door die set. The doorway was cut from Coral and Bellini cardstock and popped up, excluding the shutters, on the card front with a foam die cut of the door frame.

  • The sea view was cut from Malibu, white, Blue Spruce and Anchor cardstock and inlaid in the popped up door. The shutters were adhered to the sides of the door frame. The steps were cut from Anchor and black cardstock and popper up with foam at the base of the door.

  • The Fern vine with Albaster Flowers was adhered to the door frame and the steps finished off with Sicily cardstock pots and lemons cut from Beeswax.

  • The flower centres were done with Nuvo Crystal Drops and after they were dry, the Blue Spruce sentiment from La Dolce Vita Banners was popped up with foam squares at an angle across the top of the vine.
