Spellbinders featuring Leaf Prints by Simon Hurley Creates

Updated: Oct 17, 2023

Hello everyone! I am so happy to work with this extraordinary product by Spellbinders, Leaf Prints Cling Stamp (Red Rubber) and Die Set. This set of eight leaves and sprigs is available as a cling stamp (red rubber) or a clear stamp. These gorgeous silhouette stamps give a pressed leaf effect. The art of printing with foliage is a beautiful technique and these stamps give a similar effect. The subtle variations in texture are amazing! I love Leaf Prints and have three card examples to share with you.

  • The first two cards are overlapping, stamped images using a collage technique. For each of the two palettes of Distress Oxide inks, I began with the lightest colour and worked toward the deepest one. I stamped roughly three leaves/sprigs per colour.

  • For the muted palette, I used Scattered Straw, Dried Marigold, Shabby Shtters and Abandoned Coral.

  • For the bolder leafy background, Carved Pumpkin, Candied Apple, Seedless Preserves and Mowed Lawn were used.

  • The panels and white sheet foam were die cut with the second largest die in the Notched Corner Frames die set and stacked.

  • The foam backed panels were adhered to A2 sized, black card bases.

  • The sentiment from Everyday Sentiments was cut from gold foil card stock and white foam. The sentiment was stacked and adhered to the panel highlighted with three gold, half pearls.

  • For the third card, the three leaves were stamped with a combination of Peeled Paint and Fossilzed Amber and cut with the coordinating dies.

  • The leaves were 'spattered' with gold embossing powder. A pinch of the powder was sprinkled on the leaves. The heat is applied underneath the die cut just until the powder begins to melt and then the heat can be applied on top.

  • I put all of the Autumn colour into the background for this card using Carved Pumpkin, Abandoned Coral, Peeled Paint and Fossilized Amber. The ink was applied with a blending tool randomly on Bristol Smooth card stock with each colour blended into the next.

  • The ink blended panel was trimmed to 4 1/8" by 5 3/8" and adhered to an A2 sized, black card base.

  • Black card stock and black sheet foam were die cut with a die from the Notched Corner Frames die set and stacked. It was adhered to the centre of the card front.

  • The two sprigs were tacked together and adhered just by the stem ends to one corner of the frame. The single leaf was fully adhered directly to the panel. The leaves on the sprigs were popped up with black foam squares.

  • The sentiment from Everyday Sentiments was cut from gold foil card stock and black foam. The sentiment was stacked and adhered to the panel.

  • The card was embellished with gold, half pearls.
