How many of you loved the Dumpster Fire Stamp & Die Set that Spellbinders released a few months ago? I certainly did! The hilariously witty sentiments and adorable dumpster fire die-cut image were such fun to work with. Well, get ready, because Spellbinders has released a holiday add-on set designed to accompany it: Deck The Dumpster!

This new set is absolutely adorable, featuring cute little raccoons, festive Christmas lights, and a collection of fun sentiments. I also couldn’t resist pairing it with the Joy-ish Sentiments set for a little extra holiday humour. I created three cards, each featuring a different festive-coloured dumpster, and these little raccoons are definitely up to mischief!

Card Details

I began by creating three A2-sized card bases using Cosmic Sky Colorwheel Cardstock. For the front panels, I used white cardstock die-cut with one of the Color Block Accent Rectangles dies. The decorative edges create a fun frame for the scene while leaving plenty of room for the sentiment.

Although Deck The Dumpster  includes lots of fun sentiments, I chose to use the Joy-ish Sentiments stamp set for these cards. The sentiments are just as witty and perfectly complement the playful images. I stamped each sentiment near the bottom of the white panel using black ink.

Next, I turned my attention to the dumpsters! Using the Dumpster Fire Stamp & Die Set, I created three dumpsters in festive shades of Colorwheel Cardstock: Merlot, Tuscan, and Fern. I added gold glitter cardstock accents for a little extra sparkle and Christmas magic.

Once the dumpsters were assembled, I die-cut three vellum flames in white, orange, and gold. I attached these to the back of each dumpster using double-sided tape, making sure to leave enough room to tuck in the raccoons.

The Deck the Dumpster set includes both a full raccoon and a bottom-half raccoon, allowing you to create a fun little scene with one raccoon sitting inside the dumpster and another diving headfirst into it. How could I resist? The set also includes a cute banana peel, which I placed on the head of the full raccoon. Of course, no festive dumpster would be complete without Christmas lights! I created these using the same three colours of cardstock as the dumpsters to coordinate the little details.

With all the elements assembled, I adhered each dumpster directly to the centre of the card front. The dumpster itself has plenty of dimension, so there was no need to add foam adhesive.

To finish the cards, I masked the sentiments with Post-it Note tape and splattered watered-down Splatter White over the panels using a fan brush. This added a sprinkling of snow and brought the festive scenes together beautifully.

Closing Thoughts

These cards were such a joy to create! The combination of the mischievous raccoons, colourful dumpsters, glittery gold accents, and witty sentiments makes for a Christmas card that is sure to bring a smile. I especially love how changing the dumpster colours gives each card its own personality while keeping the overall design cohesive.

If you loved the original Dumpster Fire set, Deck The Dumpster is a must-see holiday addition. It is playful, wonderfully quirky, and a refreshing change from traditional Christmas cards. After all, Christmas isn’t always picture-perfect—and sometimes a little dumpster humour is exactly what the season calls for!
