Spellbinders’ Black Alder from the Gorgeous Winter’s Grace Garden Collection

Hello friends! Spellbinders’ Black Alder is gorgeous. There is something about the simplicity of leafy branches and clusters of berries that I adore. Beautiful red berries are something that I associate with the Christmas season and snow … so much snow!

  • The leaves and berries from the Black Alder Die Set were cut from Susan’s Garden Specialty Card Stock. This die set is comprised of two leafy sprigs; large and small. It also has two configurations of berry clusters. I cut two of each of the sprigs and multiple berries.

  • The colouring was completed with Distress Oxide Inks. A combination of Rustic Wilderness, Mowed Lawn and Villainous Potion were used for the leaves. The berries were coloured with Candied Apple and Villainous Potion.

  • Splatter White Opaque Watercolor was watered down slightly and applied with a fan brush to an A2 sized panel of Indigo Cardstock and the die cuts.

  • A black Copic marker was used to colour in the small joining bars between the berries.

  • The leaves were shaped with tools from Susan’s Garden Ultimate Tool Kit.

  • The Indigo panel was adhered to an A2 sized, black card base.

  • The leaves were adhered by the main stem to the panel followed by the clusters of berries. The leaves were popped up with small foam squares.

  • WINTER from the Four Seasons Die Set was cut from both red card stock and black sheet foam. Villainous Potion was applied to the lower half of the letters. The sentiment was stacked and adhered to the card.
