Spellbinders BetterPress Of the Month, “Paws in the City,” is absolutely charming! This registration press plate set features two separate images — a retro woman with her coffee and dog. These images can be pressed one at a time using the registration outline for perfect placement, allowing for a layered and detailed design that’s both elegant and whimsical.

Card Details
Both images were pressed with BetterPress Black Ink onto BetterPress Porcelain Paper. To protect the focal images during stenciling, I also pressed them onto masking paper, trimmed just inside the outlines, and adhered them over the pressed images.
The background was created using the Spellbinders Stencil of the Month, a five-piece set. I used Distress Oxide inks to build the cheerful cherry pattern and soft striped backdrop:
Foliage & Cherries: Bundled Sage, Old Paper, Spun Sugar, and Candied Apple
Striped Background: Iced Spruce and Tumbled Glass
Once the background was complete, I removed the masks and colored the images using Copic markers for a bright, retro-inspired palette:

The BetterPress Of the Month includes five playful sentiments that all press at once and coordinate with a single die for easy cutting. I used the die to cut both the sentiment and a layer of black sheet foam for added dimension. The chosen sentiment, “Life is better with girlfriends,” pairs perfectly with this city stroll scene.
