Hello friends! Spellbinders’ BetterPress of the Month, Harbour Weave, is a perfect background for a nautical card. I love the rhythmic pattern of the nautical rope … reminds me of the sea. For this card, I have combined it with a sweet sailboat, the BONUS item included in the Deluxe Caboodle Kit. It is highlighted using an easy vellum paper, floating technique.

The June "New Subscriber" registration window will be open June 6th to the 27th. Sign up in June and receive the current design.

  • Because vellum will ripple if liquid adhesive is applied to it, the floating feature will be created using Tombow adhesive in its dry, tacky state. This adhesive was applied to the back of the cardstock boat and to the front of the foam boat base. The adhesive was left to dry. It will have a translucent appearance.

  • The cardstock sailboat was then centred on the Vellum oval. Turning the oval face down, it is easy to align the foam die cut to the cardstock one. The vellum oval is now sandwiched between the sailboat die cuts.

  • Regular adhesive can then be applied to the back of the foam sailboat to adhere it to the centre of the card front.

  • The BetterPress of the Month includes two sentiments and a coordinating strip die. The sentiment was letter pressed using Seedless Preserves. The sentiment and foam were cut with the strip die, stacked and adhered to the bottom of the card front.
