The Spellbinders Aged To Perfection Collection is such a delight—perfect for celebrating birthdays with a wink and a sense of humour. These designs strike just the right balance between playful and polished, making them ideal for those milestone moments (or the birthdays where the number is politely skipped altogether!).

For the first card, a letterpress foil plate sentiment, How Old? Press & Foil Plate takes centre stage. The design was letterpressed onto Spellbinders BetterPress Porcelain paper using black BetterPress ink, creating a crisp, deeply impressed impression that instantly elevates the card.

To bring the lettering to life, Copic markers were used to colour each letter with a smooth gradient. The dimensional sides of the letters were shaded with Warm Gray W5, while the faces of the letters were blended from bottom to top using PG13 as the darkest shade, transitioning into BE11, and finishing with BG000 for a soft, light highlight. This subtle ombré effect adds depth and a slightly retro feel that works beautifully with the sentiment.

Once coloured, the panel was die cut using one of the dies from the Bow and Bell Scallop Frames Die Set. This same set was also used to create the layered background. The next consecutive larger die was cut from Colorwheel Cardstock Blue Spruce cardstock, while the scalloped frame itself was cut from white cardstock.

The card base was created from Colorwheel Cardstock Waterfall cardstock, pulling the cool tones together nicely. All layers were adhered flat except for the letterpress sentiment panel, which was popped up with foam tape to add dimension and draw the eye directly to the message.

For the second card, the focal point is the bold and playful OMG die-cut sentiment. The detail die was used to cut Colorwheel Cardstock in White, Fog, and Chiffon, while the shadow die was cut from Black cardstock to give the letters strong contrast and definition.

To assemble the sentiment, I started by adhering the white cardstock outline layer first. Next, the Fog cardstock was added to create the dimensional portion of the letters, and the look was finished off with the soft Chiffon layer on top. This stacked approach adds depth while keeping the colour palette light and cohesive.

For the background, one of the dies from the Bow and Bell Scallop Frames Die Set was used to cut a panel from white cardstock, with the coordinating scallop die cut from Chiffon cardstock. These panels were layered together and adhered to a landscape-oriented A2 card base.

The coordinating sentiment from the Birthday Laughs Sentiments stamp set was stamped in black ink onto the white panel, keeping the design crisp and readable. The assembled OMG sentiment was then adhered above the stamped greeting, finishing the card with a fun, lighthearted focal point that perfectly matches the playful tone of the collection.

This card comes together quickly and really lets the die-cut sentiment shine—perfect for birthdays that call for a smile and a little sass.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Aged To Perfection Collection is full of personality and makes birthday card-making genuinely fun—especially for those occasions where laughter is the best gift of all. A perfect choice for milestone birthdays, tongue-in-cheek celebrations, or anyone who appreciates a little humour with their handmade card.
