Hello friends! Today's card features the gorgeous Poinsettia Corner Press Plate & Die Set from The More BetterPress Christmas Collection. Stamping with a press plate not only gives a letterpresses image but also one that is very crisp. I love the easy-to-use BetterPress Letterpress System!
Poinsettia Corner Press Plate & Die Set was letterpressed using BetterPress Letterpress System with black ink on a panel of Porcelain BetterPress A2 Cotton Card Panels. For details on how to use this easy system, check out my video, Introduction To Spellbinder's BetterPress System.
A colour wash was created with Peacock Blue from the Mijello Mission Gold water colour set. To create a wash, a thin layer of clean water was applied to the panel. I only avoided getting water on the poinsettia. I like to apply the water to both the front and back of the panel. The panel will lie flat on the surface and there will be minimal warping as it dries.
The diluted blue paint was dropped in around the poinsettia and over top of the rest of the image and allowed to just naturally travel creating a soft, transparent background.
A combination of Zig Real Brush Markers and Arteza Real Brush Pens were used to colour this floral design. My focus was getting the right colours so I pulled these water based pens from both sets.
Distress StainTarnished Brass was used to create some accents in the centre of the poinsettia and berries. The end of a paintbrush was dipped in and 'stamped' to create gold dots. A fine paintbrush was used to draw in lines on the small flower that terminated with a dot.
The panel was spattered with white using Dr. PH Martin's Bleed Proof White; slightly watered down and applied with a fan brush.
The panel was trimmed to 4" by 5 1/4" and adhered to a black matted, A2 sized card base.
The sentiment, included in the set, was letterpressed with black ink on Porcelain BetterPress A2 Cotton Card Panels. The coordinating die was used to cut it and sheet foam. The sentiment was stacked and adhered to the card completing it.
