Spellbinder’s Large Die of the the Month for October & Video

Updated: Nov 2

Hello friends! Spellbinder's Large Die of the Month, Cozy Toes Slippers, is a unique and super fun die set. There are four different slipper decorations; penguin, reindeer, bunny and Santa. Of course, the slippers could be unadorned as well. These cute pyjama legs are on backgrounds of pine … reminiscent of standing around the Christmas tree in anticipation for Christmas morning.

The registration window for this club will be available October 6 for current Club Members. New registrations are accepted on the 10th of October. Registrations can be completed until October 27th or while supplies last.

  • I began with all of the diecutting. The Large Die of the Month includes many dies to create various decorations for the slippers. They were kept in piles with corresponding pant legs. The pyjama legs were cut from pattern to paper using Oh Joyful Day 6X6 Paper Pad.

  • The slipper and leg were also cut from white sheet foam.

  • Because I was creating three cards, I first assembled all of the pant legs with the slippers. They were stacked on the foam die cuts.

  • The slipper decorations were assembled next and also stacked on foam.

  • The backgrounds for these cards were letter pressed using Night & Day Pines Press Plates. This set comes with two plates. I used the plate with the negative design.

  • Three panels of card stock in green, teal and mint green work cut to 4 1/4“ x 5 1/2“. Using Distress Oxide Inks, the edge of the ink pad was dragged both vertically and horizontally across the panels. For the green panel, I used Rustic Wilderness. Evergreen Bough was applied to the mint green panel and Cracked Pistachio to the teal one.

  • The three panels were pressed using the BetterPress System and the Full Size Black BetterPress Ink Pad. To get a nice black background, they were pressed two times each.

  • The panels were adhered to A2 sized card bases

  • A two piece sentiment set is included with the Large Die of the Month. The script die was positioned in the centre of the banner die and held in place with low tack tape. The sentiments were die cut from the same card stock used for each of the background panels. The banner die was also used to cut black sheet foam and the sentiment stacked on it.

  • The foam backed legs and sentiments were adhered to the card fronts.

  • There was only one additional embellishment that was added to the pom-pom and trim on Santa’s hat. Nuvo Stone Drops Chalk White was applied for some interesting texture.
