Spellbinder’s Die of the Month for July

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

Hello, everyone! We are continuing with the Christmas in July theme with Spellbinder's Die of the Month, Layered Poinsettia Tree! This is a gorgeous die set ... easy to assemble with beautiful layered details.

The July "New Subscriber" registration window will be available July 6 - 27th while supplies last.

  • The tree has two dies; the floral details and an outline die. To create the background, just the floral details were cut three times from a dark green card stock. They were randomly adhered to Mirror Gold Card Stock. The card stock was trimmed to 4 1/8" by 5 3/8" and adhered to an A2 sized, black top folding card base.

  • The tree outline die was used to cut both Mirror Gold Card Stock and black sheet foam.

  • The tree outline die with the floral detail die were used together to cut dark green card stock. I use a bit of low tack tape to centre the floral die in the outline die and to hold it in place as it goes through the die cutter. To avoid getting liquid adhesive on the foil paper, I mounted the card stock panel on an Adhesive Sheet before die cutting.

  • The floral tree design with its sheet adhesive backing was adhered to the gold foil tree and then stacked on the black foam die cut.

  • The layering details were cut from two shades of pink card stock and Mirror Gold Card Stock.

  • I found it easiest to not assemble the flowers before adhering them to the tree. For the poinsettias, I used just a dot of liquid adhesive in the centre and aligned the first layer to the dark green petals on the floral background. It was then easy to align the second petal layer on top.

  • The litttle fuschia coloured flowers have the small flower stacked on top of the slightly larger one.

  • All of the flower centres and berries were highlighted with gold die cuts.
