There is something so timeless and elegant about combining vintage fashion elements with graceful swans and delicate sentiments. Today’s cards feature products from the Spellbinders Buttons & Bows Keepsake Collection by Frank Garcia, showcasing the beautiful Vintage Atelier Press & Foil Plate, Couture Dressform, Keepsake Swans, and Heirloom Words Press & Foil Plate & Die. Soft pastel tones, layered die cuts, and dimensional details come together to create two cards filled with charm and nostalgia.

Card Details

For the first card, the background was created using the Vintage Atelier Press & Foil Plate and the BetterPress System on BetterPress Porcelain A2 Cardstock. The plate was inked diagonally using BetterPress Inks in Cruise, Taffy, and Tiger, creating a soft blend of colour across the vintage dress-form pattern.

The sentiments from the Heirloom Words were letterpressed using BetterPress Black Ink on Porcelain Paper. One of the wonderful features of this set is that all of the sentiments are pressed at once and then cut with a single coordinating die. To add dimension, the same die was used to cut white craft foam, allowing the sentiments to be stacked for extra depth.

For the second card, both the Vintage Atelier Press & Foil Plate and the sentiments were created using the Glimmer Hot Foil System  with White Opaque Glimmer Foil. This technique creates a beautiful resist effect when ink is applied over the foiled images. I blended Distress Oxide Inks in Spun Sugar, Milled Lavender, and Dried Marigold over the backgrounds and sentiments, revealing the delicate white foiled details beneath. Just like the first card, the sentiments were layered onto foam die cuts for added dimension.

Both background panels were cut using the second-largest die from the Playful Stitched Panels set and adhered to A2 card bases with foam tape.

The swans and dress forms were die cut from Colorwheel Cardstock in coordinating shades of Chiffon and white. Keeping the palette soft and airy allowed the detailed designs to shine while complementing the vintage backgrounds. The Keepsake Swans and Couture Dressform die cuts were assembled and adhered with foam adhesive to create beautiful layers and dimension.

Illustrated assembly instructions are included to make putting these detailed elements together simple and enjoyable.

Closing Thoughts

  • These cards beautifully demonstrate how versatile the Vintage Atelier plate can be when used with both BetterPress and hot foiling techniques. Whether you prefer the crisp impression of letterpress or the soft resist effect created with foiling and ink blending, both methods highlight the delicate vintage imagery perfectly. Paired with the elegant swans, feminine dress forms, and meaningful sentiments, these cards feel like treasured keepsakes—perfect for celebrating memories, creativity, and life’s special moments.
