The Poet’s Garden Collection from Spellbinders is all about timeless florals and painterly textures, and these peonies truly steal the show. With their soft, romantic layers and organic shaping, the Double & Single Peonies dies make it easy to create lush, dimensional flowers that feel almost lifelike. This card leans into gentle colour, golden accents, and hands-on shaping for a design that feels both artistic and elegant.

Card Details
Background
The background began with an A2 panel of watercolour paper, which was first sprayed with water and then misted with Tattered Rose Distress Stain. Once dry, the plates from the Colourful Bold Splatters BetterPress Set were hot foiled in gold using the Glimmer Hot Foil System, adding a beautiful mix of softness and shine. The finished panel was adhered to an A2-sized card base.

Floral Elements
To prepare the flowers, Susan’s Garden Specialty Cardstock was also sprayed with Tattered Rose Distress Stain and set aside to dry. The leaves were spritzed with Crushed Olive Distress Stain, and Fossilized Amber Distress Stain was used for the flower centres.
The Double & Single Peonies Die Sets include etched numbers on each die, making it easy to know how many cuts are needed for full, layered blooms. Each petal was shaped using a medium ball tool, working face-down on a shaping mat. The tool was moved in a circular motion, focusing on the edges of the petals to add natural curl and texture.
Once shaped, the petals were divided to create two flowers. The centres were gently depressed with the ball tool, and the layers were adhered together, slightly offset for dimension. The flower centres were added to finish each bloom.
The leaves were arranged directly onto the card base, followed by the peonies, which were adhered on top to complete the floral cluster.

Sentiment
The sentiment from the Poet’s Garden Sentiments was hot foiled in gold onto the same specialty paper sprayed with Tattered Rose. The coordinating die was used to cut both the sentiment and a foam layer, allowing the greeting to be stacked for subtle dimension. The finished sentiment was tucked neatly between the two.
Closing Thoughts
This card is a beautiful example of how ink, texture, and shaping can come together to create something truly special. The soft blush tones paired with gold foiling feel refined and romantic, while the hand-shaped peonies add depth and artistry. If you love florals that feel classic yet creative, the Poet’s Garden Collection is an absolute joy to work with.
