Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember with Sweet Christmas Wishes

The event you have all been waiting for is here—Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember! And, as you would expect, the Simon Says Stamp release is absolutely fabulous. There is definitely something for everyone, with so many wonderful new products to inspire your creativity!

I’m starting things off with two sweet Christmas cards featuring the adorable Fable Sitting Deer. These little deer are simply too cute, and I’ve paired them with two very different backgrounds: the delicate Frozen Fractal Peace die on one card and the cosy Yarn Tangle Embossing Folder on the other.

Card Details – Frozen Fractal Snowflake

For the first card, I started by creating an ink-blended background on an A2-sized panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock. This is my favourite cardstock for ink blending because it allows the inks to blend beautifully and smoothly. I randomly applied Distress Oxide inks in Evergreen Bough, Faded Jeans and Peacock Feathers, adding a light application of Black Soot around the edges to give the background a little more depth. I then added a sprinkling of snow by watering down some opaque white paint and splattering it over the panel with a fan brush.

For the sentiment, I chose one from the Layering Christmas Trees stamp set (Check this out! Super fun!) and stamped it in black on the bottom of the card.

The Frozen Fractal Peace die creates such a beautiful and delicate snowflake. I die-cut it from glitter cardstock and applied Tombow adhesive to the back. I allowed the adhesive to dry until it reached that perfect tacky stage. This made it easy to position the snowflake on the card and make any small adjustments needed to get it perfectly centred across the top two-thirds of the panel.

The adorable Fable Sitting Deer was die-cut from three shades of brown cardstock, with soft pink cardstock used for the inner ears. I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ebony Black for the eyes and Simply White for the little details on their heads and rumps. To give the antlers a snowy finish, I added Nuvo Stone Drops in Chalk White. Finally, the deer was attached to the card with a fun Wobbler, giving this sweet little character some playful movement!

Card Details – Yarn Tangle Christmas Deer

For my second card, I created the adorable deer three times, following the same die-cutting and decorating process as the first card.

For the background, I used the same soft pink cardstock that I chose for the deer’s inner ears. I embossed it with the Yarn Tangle Embossing Folder, creating a wonderful textured background. To make the embossed yarn design stand out even more, I rubbed White Pigment Ink over the raised areas. I then added another layer of snowy splatters using watered-down opaque white paint. The finished panel was adhered to a landscape A2-sized card base.

For the sentiment, I again used the Layering Christmas Trees stamp set, stamping it onto the same pink cardstock and trimming it into a small rectangle. I popped the sentiment up with foam adhesive and centred it along the bottom of the card. The three little deer were also popped up with foam adhesive and arranged across the card above the sentiment.

Closing Thoughts

These little Fable Sitting Deer are just too sweet, and I had so much fun creating two completely different Christmas cards with them. One feels crisp and wintry with the glittering snowflake, while the other has a soft and cosy with the Yarn Tangle background.
