Simon Says Stamp’s JOY FOR YOU RELEASE featuring Here Comes Santa Claus

The new Simon Says Stamp Joy for You release is gorgeous and arriving just in time to add a few more cards to your Christmas card collection! There are so many wonderful new products in this release, and I’m excited to share my first two cards featuring the adorable Here Comes Santa Claus stamp set. This set is filled with sweet little silhouette images that are perfect for creating miniature Christmas ornaments. I paired these images with several other new products from the release to create two festive cards with a traditional Christmas colour palette.

Card Details
For both cards, I began by using the largest die from the A2 Starry Arches Nesting Die Set to cut panels from Indigo and medium brown cardstock. I also used the largest die from Nested Domed Arches to cut a panel from yellow cardstock ... a perfect match! This die was used to create the card bases as well. To do this, I positioned the top of the domed die just over the folded edge of black cardstock before die cutting, creating a hinged card base. The plain yellow arch was then adhered to the card base.
Before attaching the Starry Arches panels, I did a little bit of preparation. The medium brown arch was embossed using the new Pinecone Bough Embossing Folder. Using mini ink pads, I applied Distress Oxide ink in Vintage Photo to the pinecones and stems, and Mowed Lawn to the pine needles, bringing a little extra colour and dimension to the embossed design. Both the embossed brown panel and the Indigo panel were then splattered with white opaque ink to create a snowy effect. Once dry, the panels were adhered to the card bases.

Now for the fun part! There are so many cute silhouette images included in the Here Comes Santa Claus stamp set. I stamped several of these images in black ink onto three different colours of cardstock: yellow, green and red. Using a circle nesting die set, I cut the stamped images in three different sizes. I also die cut gold glitter cardstock for each ornament, using the next size up in the nesting die set to create a sparkling border.
The stamped circles were adhered to their gold glitter mats, and metallic thread in colours coordinating with the cardstock was taped to the back of each circle to create the ornament hangers.
At the bottom of each arch, I added a sentiment from CZ Designs Very Merry XL EZ Strips Sentiments. The sentiments were die cut using the Sentiment Labels Die Set. They come on white cardstock, so I simply coloured the labels with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink. Each sentiment was popped up with foam squares for a little dimension.
I arranged the ornaments across each background, adhering them with foam squares to give them a lovely dimensional look. For the card with the embossed background, I also added a couple of glittery boughs die cut using the Fresh Pine Sprigs die set. To finish off the ornament hangers, I added the adorable little bows included in CZ Designs Simple Trees Wafer Dies. The bows were cut from cardstock coordinating with the colours of the ornaments.

Closing Thoughts
I love how these two cards turned out! The combination of traditional Christmas colours, gold glitter, snowy backgrounds and sweet little silhouette ornaments makes for such a festive design. The Here Comes Santa Claus stamp set is a wonderful addition to your Christmas crafting supplies, and I can see so many possibilities for using these little silhouettes beyond ornaments. They would be equally adorable on gift tags and other holiday projects.
This is just the beginning of my projects with the Simon Says Stamp Joy for You release, so stay tuned for more Christmas inspiration!
