Simon Says Stamp’s Dream Big Release featuring Gradient Blends on BIG AND BOLD Sentiments

I love sentiment sets, As far as I am concerned, they are the foundation for a card. I think of them as part of the basics like paper and adhesives … they are used for every single card. When starting on a new project, I often will comb through my sentiment sets. When the sentiment is chosen, everything else seems to fall into place. Simon Says Stamp’s Big and Bold is a wonderful, ‘all occasion’ set. As the name suggests, the block style lettering is perfect fror a gradient blend and a beautiful complement to Simon’s Brushed Flowers.

A panel for one of the cards was ink blended with Simon’s PAWSITIVELY Saturated Inks; Aspen and Seafoam. The ink was applied randomly to Bristol Smooth card stock with blending brushes. The colours were overlapped where they met to create the blend. Three sets of flowers and foliage from Simon’s Brushed Flowers were stamped on a separate piece of card stock; one with Simon’s Intense Black ink and the the rest using the saturated inks; Cherry, Iris, Field and Seafoam. These elements were cut with a Scan n’ Cut.

The elements were adhered to the ink blended panel and panels of black and white card stock. They were trimmed to 4 1/8” by 5 3/8” and cut with the largest die from Simon’s Stitched Rectangles. This is my favourite nesting set. If the outer frame is retained as it is for these cards, there is a double stitched detail. The small rectangles were mounted on either white or black foam. The frame was centred on an A2 sized card base of either white or black card stock and then the foam backed rectangle adhered.

The Big and Bold sentiments were stamped using a stamping platform. The top half of the sentiment was inked in one colour and the bottom half in another.

  • Aspen/Seafoam

  • Iris/Violet

  • Field/Aegean

The stamping was repeated a couple of times overlapping where the the two colours meet to create a blend. This set does have coordinating dies but I cut the sentiments with a Scan n’ Cut. They were mounted on foam. The cards were finished off with Confetti from either Spellbinders’ Teal Opalescent or Studio Katia’s Satin Rainbow and topped up with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
