Quick & Easy Summer Cards with Simon Says Stamp's You Shine

Hello everyone! So here was my thinking when I looked at Simon Says Stamp's You Shine in the July card kit:

  • lemons made me think of lemonade

  • lemonade made me think of summer time

  • summer time made me think of country living

  • country living made me think of gingham ... LOL!

And what did all this thinking lead to? A set of very quick and easy cards using patterned paper backgrounds and water-based marker colouring. Of course, I had to bump up the colour factor so the lemons were interpreted as citrus! And no worries if you did not get the kit, all of the supplies used for these cards are sold separately.

ALL of the images were stamped twice with Simon's Black Ink on Bristol Smooth card stock and clear embossed. I cut the images with a Scan & Cut but there are dies available. So many images to colour! But honestly, working with Zig Real Brush Markers took no time at all. I worked with just six colours; Yellow, Pale Yellow, Light Blue, Orange, Light Green and Natural Grey.

Three colours of gingham patterned paper were selected from Simple Stories Vintage Lemon Twist 6 by 8 papers. Four panels, one large and three a bit smaller, were cut with Simon's Stitched Rectangles. Sentiments were stamped with black ink directly on the smaller panels and clear embossed. For the larger one, Bristol Smooth was coloured in the light blue, stamped, clear embossed and die cut with Simon's Sentiment Labels.

For the large panel, twine was wrapped around the lower portion of the panel and the panel was mounted on foam. It was adhered to a kraft matted A2 sized card base. The window boxes and sentiment were mounted with foam. One of the cards with the smaller gingham panel had a cute bee patterned panel cut with Simon's Dot Scallop Border die. It was mounted on foam and layered on the gingham panel. The other two gingham panels were mounted directly on foam. All three were then layered on both kraft and black card stock and adhered to A2 sized card bases. The elements were arranged on the cards; some with added dimension. The four cards were embellished with either sequins or confetti finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
