Owl Be There … Spellbinders Small Die of the Month for September, 2026
This little guy is a hoot — quite literally! Meet an adorable owl perched on a tree stump, surrounded by colourful Autumn leaves and tiny mushrooms. It really doesn’t get much cuter than this, and I had so much fun creating this sweet nighttime Autumn scene with the Spellbinders Small Die of the Month – Owl Be There.

Card Details
I began by die-cutting all of the pieces from Spellbinders Colorwheel Cardstock. The owl was created using a combination of Anchor and Fog, with Saffron for his beak and legs. A tiny touch of Chiffon on his cheeks, along with black and white for his eyes, brought this sweet little character to life. He came together quickly and easily.
The tree stump is made up of two dies, and I cut both pieces from Acorn cardstock. To differentiate the top of the stump, I added a little Distress Oxide in Walnut Stain, giving it some extra depth and texture.
Of course, my owl needed a beautiful fan of Autumn leaves! I die-cut the leaves from Acorn, Rainforest, Tuscan, and a rich orange cardstock, then arranged them so they overlapped on either side of the owl. Once the owl was assembled, I adhered his little feet to the top of the tree stump.
The entire piece was then popped up with foam squares onto an A2-sized kraft card base, which I covered with a panel of Indigo cardstock — the perfect colour for a nighttime sky.
To finish the background, I added pretty Saffron stars across the Indigo panel. The sentiment, from the Clear Stamp & Die of the Month, was stamped onto Tuscan cardstock and die-cut, along with a layer of black sheet foam. Stacking the sentiment gives it a little extra dimension, and I adhered it beneath the tree stump.
The finishing touches were a few tiny mushrooms, cut from Acorn and Merlot, along with some small Autumn leaves scattered around the base. These little details help complete the cozy nighttime scene.
Closing Thoughts
This little owl absolutely stole my heart! I love how a handful of simple die-cut pieces can come together to create such a charming scene. The combination of the deep Indigo night sky with the rich Autumn colours makes this card feel warm, cozy, and just a little bit magical.
