There’s something so nostalgic about lakeside adventures, and these three cards from the Spellbinders SUMMER CAMP Collection capture that feeling perfectly. Each design features a quick and easy stenciled background using the Lakeside Memories stencil set, paired with charming critters from the Woodland Trio and Trailside Trio die sets. With a mix of scenic elements, playful accessories, and vibrant Distress Oxide inks, these cards come together beautifully while still feeling approachable to recreate.

I began by creating all three backgrounds using the Lakeside Memories stencil set and Distress Oxide inks. For the raccoon scene, I used Bundled Sage, Mowed Lawn, Mermaid Lagoon, Tumbled Glass, Vintage Photo, and Mustard Seed to create a soft daytime lakeside feel. The deer card features a richer landscape using Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn, Forest Moss, Mustard Seed, and Vintage Photo. For the nighttime scene, I leaned into deeper tones with Black Soot, Walnut Stain, Faded Jeans, Broken China, Scattered Straw, Villainous Potion, and Plum Stone, creating a cozy evening atmosphere. Each panel was die cut using the Playful Stitched Panels and adhered to an A2-sized card base.
Sentiments from the Summertime Sentiments stamp set were stamped directly onto the backgrounds using black ink, keeping the designs clean and cohesive.
All die cutting was done with Colorwheel Cardstock, which adds beautiful depth and consistency across the cards. I incorporated scenic elements like trees and signposts from the Trail’s End die set—cut from combinations of Fern and Truffle cardstock for the trees, and Beeswax, Oceanside, and Truffle for the posts. For added dimension, the edges of the Truffle cardstock were darkened with Black Soot ink.
The critters really bring these scenes to life. The deer and hedgehog are from the Woodland Trio set, while the raccoon comes from the Trailside Trio. The hedgehog was assembled using Truffle, Acorn, and Fawn cardstock, and paired with a lantern from the Camp Days set. The lantern was cut from Acorn, Black, and Beeswax cardstock, with the flame finished using Nuvo Glitter Drops in White Blizzard for a soft glow.
The deer is ready for a day on the water, accessorized with pieces from the Splash Days set. He’s wearing a life jacket (Beeswax and Tuscan), shorts (Oceanside and Windy), and holding an oar cut from Acorn cardstock. The raccoon, also styled with Splash Days elements, sports a cute swimsuit in Chiffon and Bellini and is holding a fishing line with a tiny fish cut from Fog, Fern, and Tuscan cardstock.
On the canoe card, the canoe itself was cut from Acorn and Truffle cardstock, with an additional signpost detail in Beeswax and Truffle to tie the whole scene together.

The stencil backgrounds do most of the heavy lifting, while the detailed die cuts and fun colour combinations bring personality and charm to each scene.
