Spellbinders House-Mouse Sunflower Walk collection is filled with the sweetest everyday scenes, and this image completely stole my heart! The Sunflower Walk stamp creates such a warm and cheerful design. Combined with a watercolour wash background and simple colouring, this card comes together beautifully while still being quick and easy to create.

CARD DETAILS

The background was created on watercolor paper using Distress Stains in Twisted Citron and Fossilized Amber. I began by saturating the watercolour paper with water, then applying the stains and allowing the colours to move naturally across the panel. Once dry, additional speckles were added by flicking both stain colors across the background for extra texture and interest.

The panel was then stamped with Sunflower Walk using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I chose this ink because the image would be coloured with Copic markers, and Memento ink will not bleed when using alcohol markers. The stem, leaves, and grass were coloured with YG13 and YG17. The mouse was coloured with E44, while E42 was used for the face, ears, and feet. A touch of R30 was added to the cheeks and inside the ears for a soft rosy detail. The sunflower center was coloured with E44, and the petals were finished with Y06 and Y18. This really is a fast and easy colouring project with such adorable results!

The finished panel was cut using one of the dies from the Bow and Bell Scallop Frames die set. The larger scalloped frame die from the same set was used to cut Colorwheel Cardstock Beeswax cardstock, creating the perfect soft yellow border for the card. The watercolour panel was popped up with black foam and attached to the scalloped frame before the completed card front was adhered to an A2-sized landscape card base.

FINAL TH

This card feels like sunshine in paper form! The bright watercolour background paired with the whimsical little mouse and sunflower creates such a happy, carefree design. The House-Mouse collections always have so much personality, and this one is no exception.
