Spellbinders Stitching Die of the Month, Stitched Pumpkin Tops, is all about cozy autumn vibes, with stitched florals, pumpkins, and plenty of harvest details. In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through how I created this cheerful “Hello, Gourd-geous” card—a mix of warm colors, hand stitching, and a few sparkly embellishments that make the design come alive.

Step 1: Ink-Blended Background
Start with a Mint cardstock base. Blend Bundled Sage around the edges, deepening the edges and corners with Walnut Stain for contrast. This soft, glowing background creates the perfect stage for your stitched pumpkin and flowers.
Step 2: Stitched Flowers
Die cut flowers from Beeswax, Saffron, and Tuscan cardstock. Use gold metallic embroidery thread to stitch the petal details. The stitching not only adds dimension but also ties in beautifully with the gold accents you’ll use later.

Step 3: Pumpkin Focal Point
Cut the pumpkin from Saffron cardstock and lightly distress the edges with Walnut Stain to give it depth. Add small accents of gold glitter cardstock to highlight the stem and details, giving the pumpkin a playful sparkle.
Step 4: Leaves and Acorns
Die cut leaves and acorns from Kraft cardstock. Blend them with autumnal Distress Oxide inks:
Walnut Stain for shading
Fossilized Amber for golden glow
Spiced Marmalade for vibrant orange
Fired Brick for rich red tones
Arrange them at the base of your pumpkin to anchor the design.

Step 5: Sentiment and Embellishments
Add the die cut sentiments “hello” and the “Gourd-geous” banner for a playful greeting. Scatter gold confetti sequins around the stitched florals and pumpkin. Finish with a few drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew for a subtle dewy effect.
Finished Card
This cheerful autumn card combines the elegance of hand-stitched flowers with the whimsy of a glowing pumpkin. The ink-blended mint background balances the warm Autumn colours, while gold details add just the right touch of sparkle.
Perfect for sending a seasonal hello or for displaying as a little piece of handmade autumn décor!
