Thanksgiving cards are some of my favourites to create, and this one turned out so warm and cozy! Using Spellbinders’ Stencil of the Month – Acorns & Oak, I built up layers of Autumn colour on kraft cardstock, then added a gold sentiment to finish it off.

Supplies Used
Stencil of the Month – Acorns & Oak (5-piece layering stencil set)
Large Die of the Month (September)
Squeezed Lemonade
Dried Marigold
Candied Apple
Walnut Stain
Vintage Photo
Distress Stain – Tarnished Brass
Matte Gold Cardstock (from Gold Treasured Cardstock Pack)
Black Foam Sheet (for dimension)
Matte Gold Half Pearls
A2 Kraft Card Base

Stencil the Background
Start with a panel of kraft cardstock cut to A2 size.
Use the layering stencils to add color with mini blending brushes.
Blend two ink colors for each leaf layer to achieve a natural, soft gradient effect.
Add depth to the acorns using Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo.

Add Texture & Shine
Lightly spatter Tarnished Brass Distress Stain with a fan brush cross the panel for a speckled, rustic look.
Assemble the Sentiment
Die cut the word “happy” and the Thanksgiving banner from matte gold cardstock and black foam.
Stack them to create dimension and adhere to the centre of the panel.

Finishing Touches
Adhere the entire panel to an A2 kraft card base.
Add matte gold half pearls around the sentiment for a polished, festive finish.
Design Notes
This card is the perfect mix of warm and cozy. The kraft cardstock makes the warm autumn tones pop, while the gold sentiment and splatters add just the right amount of shine for a holiday greeting.
🍁 Tip: You can switch up the ink colors for a brighter fall palette (think mustard seed + carved pumpkin) or even try non-traditional colors like teal and copper for a modern Thanksgiving look.
