This month’s Stitching Die of the Month from Spellbinders is just the cutest! Rooting For You brings together sweet garden imagery with stitching details, making it such a fun and unique project. I love how it combines die cutting and simple embroidery to create a card full of texture and charm.

Card Details

To begin, I created a shaped card base using the largest die from the Perfect Touch Arches set. By placing the die slightly over the fold of white cardstock, it forms a hinge at the top (with the very top trimmed off). I then cut an additional panel from Breeze Colorwheel Cardstock and adhered it to the front for a soft sky background.

For the foreground, I used the same arch die to cut Truffle cardstock, ensuring the decorative edge detail carried all the way around. This panel was then cut using the landscape die included in the Rooting For You set to create the ground layer.

The vegetables—carrot, onion, and beet—along with the plant marker were die cut from Colorwheel Cardstock in Fawn, Alabaster, Cranberry, Coral, Fern, Rainforest, and Peridot. The stitched details were added using coordinating embroidery floss, following the etched guidelines on each piece.

To assemble, I adhered the stitched layers to their solid die cut bases using Tombow liquid adhesive, making sure to fully coat the stitched areas so the floss lays flat and secure. Once dry and tacky, the layers were stacked for a clean, polished look.

The plant marker (with its sweet sentiment) was adhered first, followed by the vegetables, making sure the tops of the roots aligned right at the soil line for a realistic effect.

To finish, I added cream-toned confetti and topped them with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew for a soft, glossy detail.

Final Thoughts

This card is such a playful take on encouragement—perfect for sending a little “rooting for you” note to someone who needs it. The mix of stitching and die cutting adds wonderful dimension, and the shaped arch design gives it that extra special touch. It’s one of those projects that’s just as fun to make as it is to give!
