Colouring on Spellbinder’s Foiled Vellum from the Serenade of Autumn Collection

Hello everyone! Spellbinder's Foiled Vellum 6 by 6 Paper Pad is a gorgeous set of three designs; a circular mandala pattern, a whimsical floral, and a scattering of leaves. The paper pad comes with two of each. These beauties are so much fun to work with and easy to colour with water-based markers!

  • The vellum panels were cut with a die from Notched Corner Frames.

  • These designs were coloured simply with water based markers. The markers were used without additional water as moisture will cause the vellum to warp. I used a combination of Zig and Arteza Real Brush Markers. All of the colouring was one tone per element except for the large blooms that were coloured with fuchsia at the base and soft pink on the petal's edge.

  • The die used to cut the panels was used in conjunction with the next smallest die to create frames. I taped the dies together to keep the frame width consistent. Both card stock, two white and one black, and coordinating sheet foam were cut.

  • I wanted the vellum to sit above the card stock for an airy look. The vellum panel was sandwiched between a card stock and foam frame.

  • The card stock frame was adhered to the vellum panel with double sided tape. Liquid adhesive will cause the vellum to ripple.

  • The foam frame stretched a bit going through the die cutter. I cut the frame in half and adhered on half to the back side of the vellum with doubled sided tape. When the other half was adhered, the length of the side was trimmed to fit.

  • For the black framed card, the foam backed frame was adhered to a white panel cut with the larger of the two dies from the Notched Corner Frames. It was then mounted onto a a black, A2 sized card base.

  • The white framed panels were adhered directly to white, A2 sized card bases.

  • The sentiments from Everyday Sentiments were cut three times each and stacked. Liquid adhesive was applied to the sentiments to adhere them but the the glue was tapped off onto scrap paper to minimize the amount used.

  • The cards were embellished with either white iridescent or gold confetti finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
