The Classic Mouse Costume Party from Spellbinders is such a fun addition to the Classic Mouse collection! With an assortment of adorable costumes and coordinating accessories, there are so many ways to dress up the Classic Mice for Halloween. For this project, I created three treat bag tags and an A2-size card, combining the Classic Mouse Costume Party,, Classic Mouse Trick-or-Treat Accessories, and Classic Mouse Wedding die sets with some fun spooky details.

These costume pieces are designed to be used with the full mouse die sets, including Steamboat Willie Duo or Classic Mouse Wedding. I wanted to incorporate the top hat & wedding dress and really liked the positioning of the arms in the Classic Mouse Wedding set, so that was my choice for the mice in this project. And because Halloween should always include a little unexpected fun, I also created a pair of adorable ghosts—with mouse tails, of course!

Card Details
For the card, I used the Color Block Accent Rectangles & Precision Layering A2 Die Bundle to create the layered background. I chose Black and Tuscan Colorwheel Cardstock for a warm, vintage-inspired Halloween palette.
I began by cutting a black panel with one of the rectangular dies from the Precision Layering A2 set. The coordinating Color Block Accent Rectangle was then used to cut the Tuscan cardstock.
To add a little spooky atmosphere, I placed Post-it Note tape approximately one-third of the way up from the bottom of the Tuscan panel. Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink was blended onto the lower portion. After removing the tape, I lightly inked the edges around the upper two-thirds of the panel and then spattered the panel using a fan brush and black acrylic paint and Splatter White. This gives the background a subtle distressed look without overpowering the cute Classic Mouse characters.
The Tuscan panel was adhered to the black panel and then added to an A2-size card base.
For the sentiment, I used the Spooky Sentiments Press & Foil Plates, foiling the sentiment in gold onto Tuscan Colorwheel Cardstock. The coordinating die was used to cut the sentiment, and I also die cut a layer from black sheet foam. Stacking the sentiment over the foam creates a dimensional finish that really makes the gold sentiment stand out.

The Classic Mouse characters and accompanying Halloween elements were assembled and adhered to the card using foam squares, giving the characters plenty of dimension and making them the stars of the design.

Tag Details
The three treat bag tags were created using the same Color Block Accent Rectangles & Precision Layering A2 Die Bundle. I used the rectangular dies to create the tag bases, again combining black and Tuscan Colorwheel Cardstock.
Once the Tuscan panels were cut, I repeated the same inking technique used on the card. Post-it Note tape was positioned about one-third of the way up from the bottom, and Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink was applied to the lower section. After removing the tape, I lightly inked the remaining edges to give each tag a slightly weathered Halloween look. The tags were spattered using a fan brush and black acrylic paint and Splatter White. The Tuscan panels were adhered to the black panels, and a hole was punched at the top of each tag.
For the ties, I used black tulle, simply looping it through the punched hole with a slip knot. The tulle adds a lovely wispy texture and makes these tags feel extra special when attached to a treat bag.
The real fun came with dressing up the Classic Mice! I created four different costume combinations using the Classic Mouse Costume Party dies, along with the Classic Mouse Trick-or-Treat Accessories for the finishing touches. The characters are so much fun to assemble, and I love how changing their costumes gives each tag its own personality.
For one tag, instead of using a Classic Mouse, I created two little ghosts and added mouse tails. They might just be my favourite part of the project—because apparently even ghosts need to get in on the Classic Mouse Halloween fun!
The Spooky Sentiments Press & Foil Plates were also used for the tag sentiments. I foiled the sentiments in gold onto Tuscan ColorWheel Cardstock, die cut them with the coordinating dies, and layered each one over black sheet foam. The dimensional sentiments were then adhered along the bottom of the tags. Finally, the mice, ghosts, and their accompanying accessories were popped up with foam squares for added dimension.
Closing Thoughts
I absolutely love how these projects bring a Halloween twist to the Classic Mouse collection! The Classic Mouse Costume Party dies make it so easy to create completely different looks, and the Classic Mouse Trick-or-Treat Accessories provide all those little details that bring the characters to life.
The three tags would be perfect tied onto Halloween treat bags, while the coordinating card makes a fun companion for a special Halloween gift. And those little ghosts with their mouse tails? Definitely too cute to be scary!
There are so many costume possibilities still waiting to be created with this collection. I think this Classic Mouse crew is going to have a very busy Halloween!

Your spooktacular is spectacular. There are oh so cute.
