BLOG HOP 2 | DESIGNERS LIST

BIRTHDAY WONDERLAND

  • All of the images and sentiments were stamped on white card stock using black Versafine ink. Although everything was Copic coloured and Versafine is not Copic-friendly, I chose this ink because of the clear, crisp image that it produces. Of course I do not want the COPIC ink to bleed, so everything was clear embossed.

  • The Copic colouring was straightforward and easy with these smaller images:

Trees- YG97,93,91

Seal - W1,3,6

Raccoon - W3,5,7

Bear - E44,42,41

Hedgehog - E49,44, 43

Accessories - R29, 27, 22,83,81, W1,3, RV04

  • The coordinating dies were used to cut all of the images and sentiments. Sheet foam was also die cut for the critters and sentiments to be stacked on.

  • The inked backgrounds were fun to make. Distress oxide inks were applied using blender tools on Bristol Smooth cardstock. For each background three colours were selected and applied in horizontal, asymmetrical stripes. Post-It Note Tape was used to mask the inked areas before applying the next one. The tape was positioned slightly above the stripes to create white borders.

Spun Sugar, Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac

Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Candied Apple

Speckled Egg, Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio

Bundle Sage, Lucky Clover, Mowed Lawn

  • These panels were spattered with slightly water-down white gouache using a fan brush.

  • The card fronts and sheet foam were cut down to 3 3/4" by 5". The white cart fronts, foam panels and the inked panels were cut with an oval die from a nesting die set. The card fronts were stacked on the foam panels.

  • The top folding, A2 sized card bases were matted with coloured card stock that coordinated it with one of the colours found in the inked backgrounds. The foam backed card front was centred on the coloured card stock and the oval inked panel was recessed. For the card with the hedgehog, a sentiment was stamped directly on the ink panel with black Versafine ink and clear embossed prior to adhering it to the card base.

  • The foam backed critters and sentiments were adhered on the ovals.

  • The trunks of the trees were adhered to the treetops. They were used to complete the scenes for all of the critters with the exception of the seal. Some trees were adhered inside the oval and others directly on the card front to provide greater depth and dimension.

  • All of the cards, except for the one with the seal, were embellished with sequins picking up one of the colours in the background. They finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.

  • My little sea creature card was embellished with a combination of blue green and clear crystals.
