For this month’s Spellbinders Stitching Die of the Month, A Perfect Blend, I created a shaped card using the Arch Mirror Labels Nesting Die Set. To build the shaped card base, fold your cardstock in half, crease it well, and place the top of the die slightly over the folded edge before running it through your die-cutting machine. This creates a clean hinge. My base is cut from black cardstock, then layered with progressively smaller arch labels in matte gold cardstock and a lovely floral patterned paper.

A Perfect Blend features two mugs, each with half of a stitched heart. I completed the stitching using gold metallic embroidery thread, which adds just the right amount of shine. The mugs were die-cut from Colorwheel Cardstock Tutu cardstock and accented with Chiffon cardstock. The “liquid” portion was cut from Fawn cardstock, while the steam was cut from vellum for a soft, airy look. When assembling the cups, I adhered only the top edge of the inner rim so that the vellum steam could slide behind it and be secured with a bit of tape.

For the sentiment, I used both the banner and the open heart dies, cutting each from Chiffon cardstock and black foam for dimension before stacking them. The scripty “Love You” was cut from matte gold cardstock and again from black foam and layered together. The mugs were popped up with foam squares to finish the design with a bit of lift and presence.
